In Atlantic Canada, independent industry supported monitoring programs have been used as an essential tool in the management of the commercial fisheries for the last 2 decades. These programs have been critical in determining the annual stock assessments for quota management and providing important scientific research to better understand all aspects of the industry.
Since the first monitoring pilot programs over 20 years ago, ACD has worked closely with government agencies and fishing industry groups to develop and implement the most beneficial and cost-effective programs possible. With this experience, ACD has become the leader in commercial fisheries monitoring on the east coast and offer the following monitoring services in Atlantic Canada:
Dockside Monitoring
ACD is the largest and most experienced  Dockside Monitoring service provider with over 20 years in the business across  all commercial fisheries and regions on the east coast.  We provide independent catch verification,  data collection, auditing and reporting services to commercial fishermen and  fishing associations.  ACD works very  closely with the government regulatory agencies in the development and  implementation of new monitoring standards and procedures.
Port Sampling and  Grading Services
ACD has been providing Port Sampling  and Grading Services for over 15 years across various fisheries and regions on  the east coast.  ACD has Marine  Biologists and experienced Field Technicians that provide the collection of biophysical  samples and assessment functions for government science programs, private  industry, fish harvesters and fish processers.
Inspection Services 
ACD provides quality inspection, third  party auditing and documentation services for private industry on both shipped  and received seafood products.
At Sea Observer Services
ACD provides certified observers who  are deployed on commercial fishing vessels to collect a diverse array of  biological and ecological data.  Our  observer’s document fishing effort data, provide sampling functions and conduct  scientific research surveys during the fishing trip.
Data Collection Programs
ACD provides various data collection  services in support of commercial fisheries management.  These data collection programs include  supplying document collection and data entry services of fishing logs, fish  tags, catch details and licence information.
Environmental Alerts
ACD provides 24/7 Environmental Alert services  to many government agencies, local stakeholders, media outlets and private  industry.  These alerts are sent  immediately to relevant parties informing them of environmental emergencies,  news bulletins or press releases.
